Scenes from the county fair

The annual county fair is underway, and there are many things to see and do. This year you can torture misbehaving kids by putting them in a bubble and watch them run like gerbils on a treadmill. It only costs $5.00.
If you forgot to bring enough money for the carnival rides, the amusement ride people have an ATM machine for you to use.
I could not figure out if this sign was serious or someone with a sense of humor put it up. I only saw it on one entrance to a livestock barn.
There are lots of scheduled activities. On Sunday night there was a kiddie tractor pull that had a good audience.
Not far away a guy from Bear Hollow Wood Carvers in French Lick was using a chain saw to carve.
Here is the finished product, a bench.
There was a fair within the fair on Sunday night. The Volunteer Fair had a number of organizations that were giving information about what they do and offering people a chance to volunteer.
There is always something going on at the fair.

Visit the Village at the fair! The Rosebud School, Quick Log Cabin, Parr Post Office and Blacksmith's Shop will be open from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday evening and from 1 to 4 pm on Thursday afternoon. The pickle snack at the cabin is free. Jasper County had several pickle factories in the county in the 1930's and 1940's.

The no smoking sign is in reference to the new state-wide smoking ban that went into effect this month.
