I found your blog and have enjoyed reading it. I am a graduate of Rensselaer High School. I am currently wondering where the Mascot "Bob the Bomber" originated from. I have not been able to find any information on it. Do you know when it began and if there is any local tie-in to the name "Bomber".Thank you for any information you can provide.

I have never heard the mascot "Bob the Bomber." I do know that the Bomber name came from World War II when people in Rensselaer (or was it people connected to the school?) bought enough war bonds to buy a bomber. I have always thought it was a horrible name.Does anyone have more to add?

It's a 1000 times better than the Logansport Berries! I thought the war bonds was a farce, and that the real mascot didn't come around until the 50s or 60s.
