On Friday, May 29 workmen were clearing logjam in the Iroquois River along Bicentennial Park and just west of Weston Cemetery.
You might notice white things floating across the scene. They are cottonwood seeds. There are cottonwoods along the river, and they are shedding their seeds.
By the end of the day, the tree that is still in the river in the video clip had been removed. There was still part of another tree in the river along the south bank.
On Monday the workers were dredging the river with a hook-like device to pull out the branches that were on the river bottom.
I wonder if this will help relieve some of the flooding that is happening in recent years near downtown Rensselaer. I hope so.
