Going to church the Wheatfield Baptist way

(I thought it would be interesting to use Sundays to focus on Rensselaer's churches and to see how many Sundays I can go before I run out of material. Indiana is richly endowed with religious denominations, with influences from North and South, East and West. This is part of that series of posts.)

The Wheatfield Baptist Church is at 58 High Street, Wheatfield, IN. It is not mentioned in the "Church Services Directory" in the Rensselaer Republican. However, it does have a website, a simple blogger website that says the following:
If you are looking for a family orientated, friendly, and Godly atmosphere, then Wheatfield First Baptist Church is welcoming you to come and join us! We look forward to meeting you and your family! Sundays: 9:30 Sunday School for all ages 10:30 Church 5:00 Extreme Generation (Youth Group) 5:00 Parent Meeting Wednesdays: 6:00 Extreme Generation (Youth Group) 7:00 Adult Bible Study Thursdays: 9:00am Women's Bible Study Saturdays: 7:00am Men's Group

The Jasper County Interim Report mentions this building, construction of which was begun in 1943:
A Life Magazine article published in November of 1948documents the construction of the church, planned and built almost single-handedly by the local minister. He devised a planking system by which wall stones could be rolled into place. Many community members were recruited to gather the stones from creek beds in the countyside. It was completed in 1951....

They have some stained glass windows. The picture of the inside of the church can be found on their website.

(A lot of other organizations should look at what they have done with a simple and free website. It allows them to have a web presence that does requires only minimal skill to create and maintain.)
