Changes in parks
Yesterday workers were removing the backstop fence of the ball field in Iroquois Park. The ball field has not been useable as a ball field since the water treatment plant was built many years ago, and the upcoming renovations to the plant will encroach further on the ball field.
This morning I noticed that topsoil had been stripped off what appears to be a future parking lot at Bicentennial Park. Also on the agenda for this fall is a some kind of trail connecting the bridge to Washington Street.

I remember having tee ball practice in that field; occasionally a foul hit or throw would send a ball over the barbed-wire tipped fence surrounding the treatment plant and, as far as I knew at the time, would be lost forever.
