The first First Christian church
I have been trying to attend some of the Lenten Luncheons this year. Last week's was held at the First Christian Church, and from the pictures on the wall I learned that the current building was not their first. The first First Christian building was built in 1891 and served until 1905. The picture below suggests that the congregation may have outgrown the building.
I did not see a photograph of the second building, which served from 1906 until 1937. The drawing below indicates it was gothic, and except for the bell tower, it reminds me of the Presbyterian church.
The current building was built in 1937 or 1938.
