On Wednesday night I heard the sounds of an ice cream truck, so I ran outside to see it.
The lady driving the truck said that they are in Rensselaer Wednesdays and Sundays, and on other days of the week are in Wheatfield and either Kouts or Hebron (I do not recall which). She said that they did not have a permit to stop in the park, so for now would be driving around town.
So if you hear the sounds of an ice cream truck, it is not an illusion, at least not on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Update; I got a message sent on July 3 from the lady driving the truck saying that she would no longer be driving it and did not know if anyone else would replace her. So we may or may not see the truck during the rest of the summer.
Ah, the ice cream truck. The food truck of our youth, before food trucks were trendy.
ReplyDeletehi !! yes, we will be traveling the streets of Rennselaer on those days. Friday, we're in Wheatfield, Saturdays, we're in Kouts and Hebron. We've had the pleasure of meeting many great residents so far, and are looking forward to meeting more of you. Its amazing to hear so many people say that its been years since they've seen an ice cream truck in their community. And to see the look of delight on the younger children, as we come down the street, you can't help but smile. I, personally, am the driver for Rensselaer. it was somewhat disheartening to hear a few "horror stories" of previous ice cream trucks that had been in the area before, but I assure you, there will be none of that on this truck. I may be by myself, or my daughter may be working with me, so if you hear us coming down your street, please, at least come out and say hello.
ReplyDeleteDo you still drive the truck on those days in Rensselaer?
