Two performances left

Last night (Thursday) the Carnegie Player's presented the first of three performances of The King and I. Like all Rogers and Hammerstein musicals, it has great music and a so-so plot. Familiar songs include "I Whistle A Happy Tune", "Hello, Young Lovers". "Getting to Know You,", and "Shall We Dance".

This is the 20th year that the Carnegie Players have been performing, and in that time they have done 33 plays. The two leads in the play, Anna and the King, played these same roles twenty years ago in the 1993 production of "The King and I" for the Children's Theater. They did a great job. The audience was surprisingly large for a Thursday night audience, and at the end of the play, the audience rose for a standing ovation.

The set and the costuming were terrific as the picture below shows.

 If you missed the Thursday night performance, you can attend either tonight (Friday) or attend the grand finale on Saturday. The show starts at 7:30 pm CDT. Tickets are sold at the door for $8, (or you can save a dollar by buying early.)

I peeked through the window of the gymnasium to see how the flooring project is going. The subfloor has been installed. They will have to work hard to get the whole project done by the opening of school.
