What else was happening
The Little Cousin Jasper Festival was not the only thing that was happening over the weekend. On Friday Alliance Bank had a customer appreciation day. I saw a lot of people there and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. Also on Friday the Antique, Flea Market & Farm Toy Show sponsored by the Jasper County Fair Association began. It looked much the same as it did last year. It filled the large community and the commercial buildings.
When I was there on Saturday, the main arena had garden tractor pulls empty stands, and there was some kind of competition going on in the horse arena.
On Saturday Rensselaer Central hosted its annual cross country invitational.
For about ten years I worked at this event, but the course was different then. I wrote about it last year and not much has changed except some of the runners.
The start of one of the middle school races was quite impressive. This is a bigger meet for middle school teams than it is for high school teams.

It looked like perfect CC weather!
:-)
I should have shown you some of the interesting antiques at the show. Have you seen a tool to remove pineapple eyes or a replica of the 1933 Worlds Fair sightseeing bus?
the competition is called barrel racing
