Remington adventures
Remington now has murals! They were painted in September by Cameron Moberg, the artist who has done several murals in Rensselaer, including the large bird on the eMbers building. The main one is on the east end of the Remington pallet factory.
Remington recently restored their old depot building. It now has a kitchen in the east end and seating on the west side. It is across the tracks from the flower mural as you can see in the picture below.
The second mural that Cameron did in Remington is just to the south of the depot.
To the west of the bird mural is a building that until recently was a bank. On its back wall are three sets of wings that invite people to pose in front of them. One set is for big people.
The other two are for kids or very small adults.
The murals were funded by the town of Remington and by the Jasper County Tourism Commission.
(Rensselaer's murals are featured on the site of the Indiana Arts Commission.)
Something else new in Remington is the Holiday Express and Suites that opened at the very end of September. It is owned by the same person who built the Comfort Suites on SR 114 west of Rensselaer.
The lobby is large and attractive and connects to the area in which a continental breakfast is served in the morning. On the left is a small area that has a computer and a printer for those who need that. The view from the window in the back is of a farm field that currently has soybeans ready to harvest.
To one side of the breakfast area is a small meeting room.
The exercise room is large with a lot of equipment.
Below is the view of the room from a different angle.
The motel will have a pool but it is not yet finished. (And there is no reason to finish it for this year.)
There are 68 rooms in the the motel and each has either two queen-sized beds or one king-sized bed.
Though there are only two basic configurations of beds, there are 16 different types of rooms, each slightly different from the others. The rooms have the usual television as well as a microwave and mini-refrigerator.
