Mural week Day 4

 (Day 3 is here.)

Several of the murals for Mural Week 2021 are finished or almost finished. I assume that Cameron Moberg's mural on Fenwick Farms Brewing is finished because he signed it.

I met his mother and father as I was taking pictures on Tuesday. They came to Rensselaer from California, picking up some friends in Omaha.

The octopus on the Anders building seem to be finished or almost finished.
A mural with a lot of water on a water-conditioning building seems appropriate.

Alex Ann Allan finished the larger of the two walls she is decorating.
She has now started on the short wall.

Mrs. Ross said  abstract mural on the abstract company building may be finished on Wednesday.

The girls in the alley with a light bulb is mostly completed.
Kristine Campbell said that this is the first mural of a vehicle that she had done. I told here I doubted if it would be her last. The subject seemed to prompt a lot of interest from people passing by.
If Rensselaer had to chose a favorite between the car mural and the beer mural, which would they chose?

One mural, however, is only in its early stages. The muralist, Neverxtinct, lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

Rensselaer has a connection to a mural underway in Kentland. Rein Bontreger expects that it will take him several weeks to finish it. We will probably see updates on the Reinforcements Design Facebook page.

There is more art at the Carnegie Center. Unlike the murals, this art is tiny, done on note cards.
The show displays work by Kelley Spurgeon who teaches art at RCHS. The show runs to August 19.

The Carnegie Center is open on Tuesdays and Thursday from noon until 4:00.

There is one more art event this week. Abbie Parmelie has an open house at her Upstairs Gallery at 112 W Washington St (2nd floor) from 9am - 7pm. She is celebrating 16 years at this location. Everyone is welcome.
