Chicks in a box

I stopped by the Farm Store to see if they had any cheap garden seeds that I could use, and I heard the chicks. There were many boxes of them, and it seemed that each box was a ordered for a specific customer.

If you look closely at what is in this box, you will see several ducklings as well as baby chickens.

Is it legal to have chickens in Rensselaer? I heard a rooster crowing the other morning on the east side of town and was rather surprised by that. I wonder what the neighbors think of it.
