Return of Little Cousin Jasper
The Little Cousin Jasper Festival is coming back after two years absence. Below is one of the very few pictures I have of an old Little Cousin Jasper Festival--it shows the SJC band in 2006. The SJC band will make its appearance this year on Friday at 6:00 according to the schedule of events that you can get by downloading a pdf brochure here.
Little Cousin Jasper was never a favorite with me--it seemed to have no real purpose or clear theme and there were too many junky booths. Other people really enjoyed it, and I do respect the amount of effort needed to put this festival together. I found the old website, with some history--I had not known or remembered that the festival organization was responsible for the gazebo on the court house lawn. I found the new website on Facebook.
If you have nothing to do Saturday, you can sit downtown and watch the entertainment all day Saturday. The "Rensselaer's got talent" from 3 to 5 may be very entertaining or it may be a disaster--maybe I will attend just to see which it is.
Here is the schedule of events from the brochure:

I remember playing Bingo around the big tree with fond memories.
I also remember once upon a time my parents entered me in the Little Miss Cousin Jasper contest. I didn't win.
I didn't realize that they stopped the festival. It was a lot of fun when I was young, plenty of places to get in trouble :)
The dates on the events are showing wrong. The friday is a 10 and saturday is the 11th. The days are correcnt but the number is ahead one day
